Inspiration

Many people are victims of crimes every day, and we wanted to do what we can to prevent some.

What it does

It allows a user to log in and to report suspicious behavior near their homes. It will then send an alert to everyone in the neighborhood and contact the local law enforcement. A user will also be able to find the crime rate of any city.

How I built it

Using Java, xml, and firebase

Challenges I ran into

Implementing firebase to hold login information was a challenge

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Being able to implement the map and have a way for users to log in is an accomplishment that I'm proud of.

What I learned

I learned how to use xml and Android Studio, and how to implement firebase in an application.

What's next for Crime Watch

Coordinating with law enforcement agencies and sending them alerts are a few of our next steps.
