Inspiration
The project began with a simple visual question: Why do the traces of a passionate night look so much like the aftermath of a crime scene? This duality — love vs. chaos — inspired a cinematic AI experiment where one apartment tells two completely different stories depending on how you look at it.
What it does
Crime Scene Mornings uses AI-generated cinematography to guide the viewer through an apartment filled with misleading details. What first looks like evidence reveals itself as the emotional echo of a wild, romantic night. The film builds tension through visual misdirection and resolves it with a warm, humorous twist.
How we built it
The entire film was created using AI generation only: AI-designed interior environments Simulated AI camera movement AI flashback sequences showing the “real story” Prompt refinement for lighting, continuity, and mood Final assembly, pacing, and color unification in post This allowed every shot to feel like it comes from a single cinematic space, even though each moment was generated separately.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was continuity. AI models often reinterpret scenes — shifting colors, changing objects, or altering character features. Keeping everything visually coherent required relentless iteration and prompt control.
Another challenge was maintaining tone: the film needed to feel like a true crime mystery at first, yet land softly as a romantic, comedic reveal.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Created a fully AI-generated narrative that feels cinematic and cohesive
- Achieved consistent visual storytelling across multiple AI-rendered scenes
- Built a smooth, convincing sense of camera movement without using real footage
- Delivered a complete emotional arc within a very short runtime
- Used AI not as a gimmick, but as a storytelling tool with intention and style
What we learned
We learned how powerful visual narratives can be when every detail is intentionally designed to support multiple interpretations. We also deepened our control over AI continuity — balancing lighting, composition, and color like solving an equation
What's next for Crime Scene Mornings
We plan to expand the concept into a small series of AI-driven micro-stories, each built around a single misleading detail that transforms meaning by the end. Future versions may explore different apartments, characters, and emotional twists — all created entirely with AI cinematography.
