Inspiration

Since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, hundreds of incidents related to violence happened and were reported on TV and media. Many people have expressed their concern regarding the daily personal safety level given the current chaos in society. As students who study and live in Seattle, the well-being and safety level of where we live is crucially important. In this project, we would like to investigate how crimes vary in terms of locations, time, and types specified in the Seattle city area.

What it does

It predicts the crime type other factors, finds the correlation between regional income level and crime counts and finds the proportion of each type of crime given timezone.

How we built it

We used python as our main programming language.

Challenges we ran into

We found our datasets too large but finally, we were able to manage them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We found the answers to each question

What we learned

We should not be scared by the size of data and we could always find a way to cope with the difficulty.

What's next for Crime Analysis in Seattle City

We can improve the machine learning model to better predict the crime type or other objects. We can use our analysis to benefit the students living in the area.
