Inspiration
Cridea took inspiration from the different posters and quotations about ideas and making them happen. I thought that ideas ultimately do not come to be because they are planned fragile. If many others were around to add to the idea, it would then turn into a plan.
What it does
The website allows any idea to be raised, and people are allowed to edit the 'idea' once permitted by the owner. Similarly, once verified by the owner and credited, one is able to carry out the 'idea' to a real life application that lead to the betterment of our society. It also works as a medium of making connections from all around the world who have similar interests, and adding onto their interests together in the form of a plan.
How I built it
I was first clueless, as it was my first web development, and after an hour of framework design, I got into programming. It involved mostly of studying the language than coding, applying the concepts to figure out how I would use them to do what I want them to do.
Challenges I ran into
- This event overlapped with another event in school. I had to attend an event as a committee in school from 8am to 5pm, and only after that I was able to code. Due to this, I had less time than others, and absolutely no time to sleep.
- The work was overwhelming to compete in the event solo. Having to do everything from design, coding, video making, and Devpost writing, I could clearly see the limitations of working as an individual. (Did not join teams as being absent from 8am to 5pm would be a burden)
- The travel distance and time is far from where I live. When I arrive to the university it is always around 7pm, and is forced to pull an all-nighter.
- This is my first time trying web development. HTTPS and CSS was new to me, so I had to spend hours studying the languages first before moving on to making the webpage I wanted.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Despite all the hardships I was able to push through because I had passion for this project and really wanted to attend a hackathon offline.
- I learned HTTPS and CSS in a day that others would spend several weeks to complete. Even if it was reasoned out due to the time scramble, I believe that because I cared for this Hackathon I was able to make it.
- Worked without sleeping
What I learned
- A lot of theory of frontend development
- Some insight in backend development and databases
- Sequence of steps necessary to carry out a plan of this scale
- Realized that teams exist for a reason
What's next for Cridea
- Upvote and downvote system
- Automatic filtering to remove ideas that are inappropriate
- Better ui
- Automatic categorization of added frames from other people
