Inspiration
As a PEGA Developer I strongly believe that PEGA is not just for workflow based applications we can totally leverage PEGA features for various applications.
As a Cricket lover I always wanted to create Cricket App and I wanted to be one of the first developer who can develop Cricket app using PEGA rather than using any other technologies/ languages and I do believe that PEGA is the best possible way to build this app because of its tremendous features.
What it does
User can check Cricket information :
- Player Statistics
- Upcoming Matches
- Live Score
How we built it
By connecting PEGA app with external APIs through Connect-Rest
I have leveraged 3 APIs :
- Player Statistics API
- Upcoming Matches API
- Live Score API
Challenges we ran into
Initially it was difficult for me to identify best Cricket API and I was not sure how to connect PEGA app with external API's as it was very first time for me to play with external APIs in PEGA. Though in other languages they are lot of resources available to connect cricket APIs but they were not that many resources available online to know about that procedure in PEGA
So I have tried couple of APIs and failed multiple times. Then Later after researching more I got the concept and leveraged the same in PEGA app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I do strongly believe that PEGA is not just for workflow applications, we can totally used PEGA features in almost all sorts of application. I am proud that I have developed something unique (i.e, Cricket App) rather than developing traditional workflow apps.
What we learned
I have learned MORE about Cricket :D Jokes apart, Technically I have learned more about APIs and how does integration works from PEGA end to public APIs
What's next for CricApi.io
For Live scores manually user need to click on either Live scores or refresh, So in order to avoid this I wanted to add ReactJS components for the UI part so that Live scores will auto refresh rather than performing action manually.
Built With
- api
- pega
- rest
- web-services
