Inspiration

Discovered that real estate marketplaces weren't optimized for vertical video content, forcing quality listings onto unregulated social platforms where buyers couldn't access key information like pricing and location. Post-NAR lawsuit, successful agents became content creators, but existing platforms didn't serve this emerging segment.

What it does

Crib is a vertical video-first real estate marketplace that connects content-creator agents with buyers. Agents can showcase properties through optimized video tours while maintaining control over their listings, pricing, and availability. Buyers get engaging video content with complete property information on one regulated platform.

How we built it

We used Supabase, Bolt, and Gemini.

Challenges we ran into

Everything tech-wise was new to me, so learning the full stack while building was initially overwhelming. Getting smooth video streaming and custom map styling to work seamlessly proved especially challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created the first marketplace specifically designed for the post-NAR agent-creator segment, solved the vertical video optimization problem that major platforms missed, and built a system that protects agents while improving buyer experience.

What we learned

The real estate industry is rapidly evolving toward content creation, but existing platforms haven't adapted. There's significant demand for video-first property discovery, and agents are eager for platforms that understand their dual role as salespeople and content creators.

What's next for Crib

Expand agent onboarding, integrate with MLS systems, and scale to additional markets while maintaining the personalized agent-buyer connection model. Since marketplaces face the classic chicken-and-egg problem with supply and demand, our immediate goals are reaching 200+ listings and generating $20k minimum monthly revenue.
