Inspiration
Our inspiration stems from the realization of just how difficult going into space would have to be on your mental health at the end of the day. Not only are you million of miles away from home, but you're consistently under the crushing pressure of discovering new milestones and the unknown that follows this. We created out project and the materials in it in a small gesture to alleviate some of the stress that comes with being isolated from everything you know.
What it does
Our various system of physical activities, dynamic applications, user-defined board games, and mentally stimulating pursuits were carefully put together to help astronauts from the moon to mars can relax after a long day and feel like they're not so far from home.
How we built it
With the help of out teammates we have spent the last few days compiling many games and adapting them to the conditions of multiple gravitational areas.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenges we ran into were trying not to make the activities repetitive. We wanted to make sure that on a 5 year voyage to mars, that entertainment could stay a constant and change throughout their journey. The other challenge we fell into was trying to figure out how to best utilize space and storage for the various pieces used in the entertainment for them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The creativity our team has shown in it's approach at innovative ideas and the friendship's we have established along the journey to the finish.
What we learned
We have learned that things are not always as they seem. Sometimes a task that may seem easy, or even small, can actually be a mountain to climb. Creativity is something that is a gift and shouldn't be squandered. The most important thing we have learned is that there is not bad idea, there are only thoughts that can bloom into more complex applications. Space and beyond is the limit, and nothing else besides that.
What's next for Crew entertainment Systems
We hope to watch as NASA develops this flight and see where they decide to take the entertainment for it's crews. We hope to watch in the future and see the ideas that blossomed into realities.
