Inspiration

Although we have an increasing number of electric vehicles, the number of charging units is still standing as the limiting factor.

What it does

It simply aims to create an ecosystem with a major focus on charging units. Allowing individuals, who own charging units, to be a part of an ecosystem would ease the process of finding a suitable charging unit, so that the time spent, kilometers traveled and the price are expected to be minimized. Moreover, it targets to establish a marketplace where every participant in the ecosystem would benefit in terms of shared-revenue model.

Charging station owners would have a passive income, SiXT would have way more options to help their customers with the charging units, and obviously, with less price. Also, electric vehicle driving individuals would have the benefit from the ecosystem, such as navigations to the suitable charging units with reliable information (i.e. they are sure that there is a suitable charging station and it has at least one empty slot). It gives the opportunity to SiXT to establish a new minor B2C model for the free drivers, who only want to get navigated toward to the charging unit (i.e. SiXT is the middleman).

How we built it

  • Persistance: PostgreSQL
  • Backend: Python, Django REST framework
  • Frontend: React
  • Mobile: React Native

Challenges we ran into

Having 3 different major aspects to consider is not something that you would want if you have only ~30 hours to come up with a working solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That we came up with a potential real-life solution to a future problem.

What we learned

That you would survive with 2 hours of sleep within 48 hours. Also, prioritization is an important aspect that you should never underestimate. Last but not least, always come up with some concrete examples about the concepts/ideas, otherwise it's like an art gallery.

What's next for Charge & Go

Having a fully-connected and functional infrastructure, especially on the frontend side so that the solution would be applicable in real-life scenarios.
