Inspiration
We were inspired by the lack of financial literacy in Gen Z and other people's experiences with credit cards. We reflected on our own experiences with credit cards, did preliminary research on credit card usage among college students, and conducted a mini-survey at SparkHacks.
What it does
CreditQuest is a quiz game webapp to test the knowledge of a user and to give advice on credit card usage.
How we built it
CreditQuest was built as a webapp with technologies ReactJS, HTML, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We initially struggled with Firebase implementation such as adding a database and authentication to CreditQuest, but we believe that the product is good without them as of now and these can be changes that can added in the future. Learning to use ReactJS, navigating GitHub push/pull requests, and researching were some other challenges we ran into. Our entire group also didn't have full experience with the languages used, so we divided the work on what our strengths would be regarding the full project requirements.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Asked students around campus to make sure our game quiz is relevant to students at UIC. A couple of us were able to learn a new programming language in such a short time span and implement a program that is almost perfect.
What we learned
Learning ReactJS basics, collaborating through GitHub, and organizing project group-work.
What's next for CreditQuest
Visual improvements, question variety, broader scope of questions, and add social & competitive features through Firebase.
