Everyone struggles to keep habits. One common reason is that there isn't an immediate incentive to keeping them. Our application encourages people to maintain their habits by rewarding players with an interactive creature they can grow on their phone. As you complete daily tasks, you "level up" your creature which will let it do all kinds of fun things. Think Tamagotchi, but for habit keeping.
We initially started in React Native, but soon realized that Unity might be more appropriate for our project. This was our largest challenge, as it getting around the nuances of RN was incredibly frustrating and time consuming. It's amazing that we were able to pick up Unity work through it to create our app instead. Hopefully we will be able to continue to work on this after the hackathon, perhaps even becoming something we use ourselves.
