Inspiration

Nordic walking is an active and popular form of physical activity all over the world. Nordic walking is fully in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 - Health and Well-being - and aims to address issues such as fitness and health prevention, overcoming the health problems caused by the Covid pandemic with vigorous physical activity.

What it does

The use of the possibilities of Scandinavian walking is possible not only against physiological, but also against psychological, mental pathologies. The Federation of Scandinavian Walking began to function only six months ago and during this time has gathered around itself a wide circle of active supporters and participants, but has not yet achieved the main goal - the massive and widespread involvement of people in physical activity, which allows people of all ages and abilities to lead an active healthy lifestyle

How we built it

A wonderful feature of Scandinavian walking is the active involvement of people in the world of domestic tourism and, therefore, the development of another innovative type of tourism in Georgia. This activity was started by the federation and is in an active phase, but it is necessary to encourage and promote this direction and use its business opportunities, this raises the problem of the lack of mass and trained trainer-consultants. Accordingly, our invention covers the following sub-issues on the subject of a competitively announced pandemic: 1) doing business; 4) rest; 5) Pleasure.

Nordic walking can be defined as a form of physical activity adapted using special poles. Nordic walking allows us to take preventive measures for health care, support in excellent shape, rehabilitation, work on mental problems, increase self-confidence, improve mood and improve physical condition. The goal of Nordic walking is to take care, maintain and restore the physical and mental health of people of all ages. In developed countries, this form of physical activity during the unprecedented Covid pandemic was given a special role as a unique means of protecting and restoring human health. The functional workload of North Walking lies in its mass character and uniqueness, uniting people of all generations.

Challenges we ran into

The use of the invention is very widespread for the beneficiaries. Due to the peculiarity of Nordic walking, namely, a soft load, our field of activity is to support the health of people at any age and in almost any state of health. Also at this stage, an important focus group for us is the patients infected with the Covid 19 virus and recovering who need further rehabilitation of the disease to treat relapses of the cardiovascular system and other organs, the best way of which is the Nordic walking method. To this end, our organization will actively cooperate with the “Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Protection of IDPs from the Occupied Territories of Georgia” with people transferred to Kovid and with certain pathologies in order to use this method for prevention for beneficiaries of different ages. • Being overweight and coping with associated psychological or neurological complications. Nordic walking can be used safely in the early stages of myocardial infarction. This is a special training course for intensive rehabilitation treatment of patients with vertebral, oncological and cardiovascular pathologies. We have ambitious plans for the use of Nordic walking in children with various medical conditions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The functional workload of North Walking lies in its mass character and uniqueness, uniting people of all generations. One unique way to fulfill the call made by the United Nations (UNDP) in 2021 - to restore the lost generation of Covid - is to walk the Nordic gait and reach its mass in patients transferred to Covid in order to restore their health. Considering all this, our federation faces tasks that fully correspond to the content of the sub-events announced by the UN Competition, namely: 4) Rest - active actions to maintain the physical and mental health of the population and the use of real rehabilitation opportunities for people recovering from coronary artery disease hearts using Nordic walking; 5) Entertainment combining an innovative direction of domestic tourism in the tourism sector - Nordic walking, with the direction of hiking. The Nordic Walking Federation has taken the first steps in all three directions, which need active support and the introduction of the element of mass in all directions.

What we learned

The use of the invention is very widespread for the beneficiaries. Due to the peculiarity of Nordic walking, namely, a soft load, our field of activity is to support the health of people at any age and in almost any state of health. Nordic walking can be used safely in the early stages of myocardial infarction. This is a special training course for intensive rehabilitation treatment of patients with vertebral, oncological and cardiovascular pathologies. We have ambitious plans for the use of Nordic walking in children with various medical conditions.

A distinctive feature of the project is the lack of analogues. The priority area is health improvement, increasing the level of knowledge and assistance in physical and psychological development. The Nordic walking workouts in this project serve to improve people health and physical and psychological well-being . Joint trainings will not only contribute to the increase in the physical activity of the project participants, but also the formation of healthy lifestyle skills, and the attraction to regular physical exercises.

Through the practical module, participants will be able to increase stress resistance, self-esteem, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve mood. The project has several goals. Education and awareness of the population in the field of prevention and health care. Implementation of a prevention program to reduce the risk of disease among the population Integration of Scandinavian walking as a practical means of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening of immunity and rehabilitation of the recovered.

What's next for Creativity and innovation in sports and physical activity

At the moment, the Federation is working on the creation of a network of active recreation centers in several large cities: the work of a group has begun in Batumi, and it is planned to create working groups in Kutaisi and Telavi. In these groups, people come together to share best practices, can travel, discover new facets of themselves in the field of active recreation and healthy lifestyle, buy travel equipment. Nordic walking is an effective means of rehabilitation and is not the only tool in our arsenal. We provide several directions that allow you to transfer the organization to self-sufficiency: Training and education for those wishing to go in for walking Training of Nordic walking instructors: there is an agreement with the founder of walking and the head of ONWF Marko Kantanava (Finland) upon arrival in Georgia, training and certification of European quality of instructor personnel in Georgia Activities: travel and excursions (skandy trips) Rehabilitation: we work in close contact with physicians of physiotherapy exercises, sports medicine and rehabilitation centers using the rehabilitation possibilities of Nordic walking. Since Scaninavian walking is a low-budget and popular destination for the population, Nordic walking sticks have become a frequently purchased commodity in the first half of June 2021 in many countries. We have concluded agreements for representation in Georgia with the manufacturer of sports equipment for nordic walking and trekking, ItaBastioni (Italy)
