Inspiration
The inspiration for this project came from a general lack of plants and foliage found across Horizon Worlds. I've seen a lot of instances of creators simply using images of plants on a flat plane, or otherwise prolific reuse of the same few assets from the public library over and over again.
I want to inspire and help educate creators that creating their own original plants, perfectly suited to their own world designs, does not have to be a complex or daunting task.
What it does
This tutorial covers:
- The process of conceptualizing and gathering references for the plant you want to make,
- Painting a stylized texture image, and create an appropriate roughness-based alpha channel in Photoshop,
- Using Blender to create the main base mesh and breaking it down into individual components to modularly build the plant with,
- Creating LODs for the main mesh,
- Importing the assets into Worlds Desktop Editor, while setting up the LOD structure
