Inspiration

Having learned online work on my own and pay University fee from online work, I realized that many other young people can easily be taught the skills to enable them contribute to economic development and improve their lives as well.

What it does

It is a mobile learning platform where young people are trained and mentored on various online work skills remotely but without internet. This therefore enables young people in rural areas, slums settlements, peri-urban communities as well as urban dwellers to learn on the same pedestal.

How I built it

I researched for algorithms that could enable unlimited communication on a GSM network but without the ordinary cost implication so that as much as the communication is as clear as any gsm communication, the cost is insignificant. I then ask the learners to have their own computers and phones (bring your own device philosophy). I then ensure that the trainers are individuals who are already doing online work so that the learners get training and mentorship at the same time. With a trainer learner ration of 1:1 it makes learning more organic than mechanistic so much so that after training, the learner can easily start working. The training takes an average of one month pending on the student's ability to conceptualize the learning concepts and content.

Challenges I ran into

Finding an algorithm that uses GSM network while scaling down the cost of communication as much as possible was not easy given that I have no background in telecommunication engineering. It took a lot of research work and reading to be able to piece together seemingly different components to make a value laden compendium.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I have used online work to educate myself through the University and am now awaiting graduation. I have also trained three individuals and they are now working online on their own. I have also registered a copyright for the innovation and I have the copyright certificate. I have also registered a company and I have a company registration certificate.
