Inspiration
We were inspired by our Aggie Spirit and our love for A&M!
What it does
The player is Reveille the dog, who can plant crops, harvest them, and sell them to earn money. Then, she can buy iconic Aggie buildings like Zachry and the Commons!
How we built it
We used Godot. To split up work, we each worked on separate pieces that were interesting to us then combined them periodically.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we ran into was interaction between objects. When it wasn't working how we expected, we spent time testing different object combinations in our code, while reading documents and watching tutorial videos.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our game mechanics, including planting and harvesting crops, and our market to buy and sell. We are also proud of our crop graphics and the backgrounds, which were made using tile sets.
What we learned
Most of our team hadn't used Godot before, so we all were able to learn or improve our skills in it. We learned how to use GDscript and GitHub.
What's next for Creating Aggieland
After this hackathon, we hope to add more features and improve our UI. This would include having more instructions and signs for the user, as currently some parts are not intuitive. We would also like to improve our building graphics, and add more buildings as the game progresses.
