💡Our Inspiration💡
The need for a place where people can solely discuss issues in their community while feeling heard and supported by others.
🌀What it does🌀
On the homepage in the search bar, the user can type in a location which will then pull up a list of communities based on that location. In the search results, the user can select a community that will have an issue to choose from underneath. The website itself has a functioning register/signup/logout, report a new issue, and search bar which directs you to the issue's page.
⚙️How it was built⚙️
The front end of Commun was designed & prototyped in Figma, and then made in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. For the backend Flask was used and CockroachDB.
⛓️Challenges we ran into⛓️
- The UI was tricky to implement
- The time constraint
- Being down a team member
- The deploying of the website
🏆Accomplishments that we're proud of🏆
- All team members worked hard at their tasks
- Our teamwork, when we struggled, it was together.
- We're all proud to have done it in such a short period of time, everyone being new to hackathons and is still eager to learn new tools and technologies.
📖What we learned📖
- The importance of organization and task designation
- UI and design skills and tools like Figma
- How to efficiently organize for remote collaboration
🌱 What's next for Commun🌱
- Updating the UI/UX
- Improved backend
- More functionalities (e.g. discussion boards, profile management)
