Inspiration
We wanted to create something that could help and educate people about the miracles of our natural world. The idea of focusing specifically on medicinal plants that could also be poisonous stems from the idea that we wanted to show our audience the duality of nature. Some of these plants are traditional remedies while also used for scientific breakthroughs in fields such as cancer research.
What it does
This program allows users to choose their own adventure by strolling through a garden and answering some questions that will lead them to a particular endpoint corresponding to the chosen answers. At the end, there will be a popup that will educate the user on the specific medicinal plant. The plants we choose are not only toxic, but we specifically targeted plants that are also endangered to raise awareness. This program provides a gamified way of learning more about medicinal plants while having fun.
How we built it
We built this project using HTML/CSS/Javascript in Visual Studio Code.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges include adding the animations of the character in the background and getting the textboxes to disappear and reappear after every action. We combined our multi-disciplinary backgrounds to debug and aid each other in our assigned roles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of efficiently using our multi-disciplinary skills to create a well-defined product by producing our own animations, sprites, backdrops, and user interface.
What we learned
Improved our JavaScript and animating skills. This project taught us how to work collaboratively under a strict time deadline as well as helped us improve our attention to detail.
