Inspiration
The inspiration for Cyber Cab comes from Sega’s classic Crazy Taxi, a fast, chaotic driving game that defined the arcade era. I wanted to reimagine that same frantic, time-pressured fun inside a cyberpunk floating city, where cars fly and players race the clock to deliver passengers. The goal was to create something instantly familiar yet futuristic — a short burst of speed, skill, and neon energy.
What it does
Cyber Cab: Testflight is a simulation challenge set in a futuristic world where players must pick up passengers and deliver them to their destinations on time. Each delivery is part of a timed certification test — hit the ground or crash, and the test ends instantly. The player must successfully complete five deliveries to earn their license and pass the exam.
It’s simple, arcade-style fun that captures the essence of flying through a neon skyline under pressure.
How we built it
The project was created using the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor, combining custom scripting, modular world design, and AI-assisted visuals for the city environment and signage. The world was optimized for mobile performance, with all mechanics — car physics, passenger logic, and timer systems — built in-world using reusable assets and gen Ai Generative AI was used to help produce: • Meshes for decorative world elements • Skybox and lighting ambiance • Sound design and ambient effects • Code assistance for optimizing event logic
Challenges we ran into
As development wrapped, we hit last-minute mobile-only bugs that didn’t appear in the desktop editor. Debugging those differences was chaotic, forcing us to remove a randomizer system that spawned platform pickup points dynamically.
Other challenges included: • A slow computer limiting build times • Performance drops in complex scenes • Tight deadlines and limited test cycles Game generally was built in 20 days
Despite all that, the prototype was stabilized and published on time.
Despite these hurdles, the project reached a fully functional MVP before the submission deadline.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We got a demo or an MVP of a very famous game like crazy taxi
What we learned
We successfully built a working demo of a modernized Crazy Taxi experience inside Meta Horizon — a complete mini-game loop from pickup to drop-off, fully playable on mobile. It’s a fast, stylish proof of concept that demonstrates both fun gameplay and solid world design within Horizon’s engine.
What's next for Cyber Cab
Future updates will add: • Randomized passengers and destinations for more replayability. • Competitive scoring and leaderboards to race other players. • Expanded city sectors and AI traffic for a more dynamic world.
The long-term goal is to evolve Cyber Cab from a testflight simulation into a living, competitive arcade world where players can earn ranks, upgrade vehicles, and compete for the fastest delivery times.
