Inspiration

I’ve always wanted a simpler way to store and organize my recipes without the hassle of creating a blog or a website, so my solution to my problem was literally to create a website for myself and others with the same problem.

What it does

Crave, like I mentioned earlier, is a no BS, simple recipe sharing and exploring app that allows users to create, share their own and explore others’ recipes quickly and easily, all it takes is to create an account and get started.

How we built it

First, I created a new project with Vue 3 using Vite, and then created a new Supabase project, then I did all my usual procedures, such as installing tailwindcss, and supabase-js (of course). After all that, I started coding.

Challenges we ran into

CSS, working with css is not very simple it turns out, getting the positioning down was really the most complicated part, but I got through it. Second issue was definitely figuring out the database, this is only my second time using supabase so I’m not that well experienced in it, but thanks to the docs and google I got over that as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m mostly proud of the fact that I finished a whole app in 3 days, of course there are more features planned, but getting to this stage in just 3 days, I never thought I could ever do that.

What we learned

Patience and efficiency, both things I found to be very important when programming thanks to this event, usually I’m all tired and worn out after coding sessions, but apparently patience is the key to being efficient, who would have thought.

What's next for Crave

I think that Crave is something that has potential to grow in the future, as I think it will appeal to a large demographic of home cooks or bakers who want a way to store their recipes without going through the long, tiring process of creating their own system or app. Also, as I mentioned earlier, there are many things I have in mind to improve and really enhance the experience by adding more quality of life features, other than just make recipe, share recipe, find recipe.
