CrAPP!

Inspiration

As youth who are no stranger to gastrointestinal concerns, and with the lack of resources that encourage conversation about the topic, we want to combat the awkward stigma tied to pooping by developing a safe space for poopsters. As well, all of our team members have interests rooting from the healthcare industry; this app has become our platform, our liaison, to combine and express our crafts.

What it does

CrAPP is a feces tracking app that aids users in documenting their poops, storing the details, and gives insight suggestions regarding whether their poop patterns need further attention.

How we built it

We began planning on figma, decided the colour scheme, main properties, and after having solidified our prototype, we converted what we saw into applicable code.

Challenges we ran into

Due to our team’s faint background with code, we struggled heavily when debugging since we didn’t have experience doing it, but with patience we solved most of the problems thrown our way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite JAMHACKS being our first hackathon, we were able to navigate through programs that we never used before, and build our first ever app.

What we learned

Since it was our first hackathon, we essentially had a crash course in app development! We came in not knowing the difference between front end and back end and learned how to iterate a plan and how to debug.

What's next for CrAPP!

In the future, we hope to embed a photo analysis tool when logging in an entry. This would be powered with generative AI, and would produce an informative breakdown based on the image provided. As well, we would love to have a more fluid UI, for instance, having a button on the homescreen that opens the entry log process instead of scrolling down to it.
