Inspiration
Stardew valley, our addiction to playing video games instead of studying, itch.io projects
What it does
It's a short and cute demo game that plays music and features JamJam, the jamhacks mascot, as it tries to complete 3 main activities on each floor. The registration/first floor of the E7 building has the ramen eating challenge, the second floor has a computer room for a video game tournament, and the third room has a karoake dance floor. Each activity has a quiz question that won't let you progress through the glass doors to the next level unless you get it right. The ending is JamJam touching grass outside the E7 building.
How we built it
We used GDscript, from godot and drew the pixel art in Piskel. We relied on hopes and prayers, there were no dreams.
Challenges we ran into
As noob/beginner coders who had never worked on collaborative video games, embarassingly enough, we spent about 1/4 of our time trying to figure out git errors... we also had to learn how to use godot from scratch, with all its different features, layering and other issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting a working app with music and all of our digital art! Managed to make layering and pop ups actually work by some miracle.
What we learned
How to code in GDScript, how to use GoDot, Tilemapping, immersed ourselves into the frustrating world of parent and child nesting assets >:(
What's next for CramJam
More levels! Uploading your own documents and notes so that it can make the quiz questions for you, saving games and playing different topics.
