Inspiration
Craftify Wrapped was inspired by the idea of giving creators the same type of celebration that music fans get with Spotify Wrapped. Makers often invest hours into their projects without realizing how much time, creativity, and variety they’ve poured in. We wanted to build something that turns their effort into meaningful insights and helps them reflect on their journey in a fun way.
What it does
Craftify Wrapped allows users to log projects, track hours, and categorize their work across different crafts like knitting, painting, sewing, and more. It transforms that data into engaging dashboards, showing trends, top categories, and productivity over time. The app makes creativity visible and shareable through colorful charts and metrics.
How we built it
We built Craftify Wrapped using Streamlit for interactivity, pandas for data handling, and plotly for visualizations. Project data is stored in JSON for persistence, and the dashboard is styled with custom CSS, pastel gradients, and a base64-encoded Wonderia font to create a motivating, playful experience.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was embedding custom fonts in Streamlit, which required encoding .otf files into base64 and carefully injecting CSS. Another was designing category selection so both predefined and custom inputs worked smoothly. Balancing the fun, colorful design with clear usability also took iteration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a polished and intuitive dashboard that feels both useful and delightful. The custom design, responsive metrics, and interactive charts make the project feel like a real product rather than just a prototype. We’re also proud of making the experience motivating for creators.
What we learned
We learned how to go beyond default Streamlit apps by customizing design elements and embedding fonts. We also gained experience in combining data analysis with storytelling, and in handling data persistence without overcomplicating the stack. Most importantly, we learned how to turn a creative idea into a working product that motivates users.
What's next for Craftify Wrapped
Future improvements include adding social sharing features so makers can post their Wrapped summaries, gamification through badges and milestones, cloud sync for multi-device usage, and deeper analytics to highlight long-term productivity trends.
