Inspiration

In the next 2-3 years, Metaverse is going to be the net big thing. Please don’t quote me on that. The applications of metaverse and VR is ubiquitous, from healthcare to defense training and much more. We want to explore its applications in education and how it can enhance the experience for the user who is learning from online universities.

What it does

There are many different online universities such as Udemy, Coursera, EdX and many more. However, none of them operate on the metaverse and we feel that this is an untapped potential that can be used to better benefit students learning online. Our goal is to create a website catered to online education that would work in the Metaverse.

Challenges we ran into

We had to find some user interviews and get feedback on the UI that we developed. So, we created a google form and sent them to a few friends of ours who are currently students to get feedback of our project.

While we wanted to create a chatbot and incorporate onto our website, creating a chatbot from scratch is time-consuming and a tedious process. Although that would offer a better experience for the user and be more accurate, we decided to include the chat function as a WhatsApp widget that would redirect the user to a WhatsApp chat with the representative of the online university

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We used an extension of live share on Visual Studio Code which enabled all the team members to use, edit and debug the code on a single file.

We deployed the website on Firebase. This was the first time any of us ever used Firebase. We ran into some snags but finally, we figured it out and implemented the website, giving us a sense of accomplishment

What we learned

1) Incorporation into the metaverse and creating a virtual space where students can learn and explore new leading topics in their industry. 2) Develop affordable hardware for students so that they can use the online platform effortlessly. 3) Advertising about this innovation and how it would benefit the students in the long run 4) Conducting a market study to see how it would be received by the public. 5) Getting educators and course instructors to create courses on this website that is compatible with Metaverse.
