Inspiration
Pairing together the desire to send cards for all occasions with the amazing flexibility of HTML and web technology.
What it does
Craft cards allows you to simply create digital cards. You pick the cover of the card, you write the title, you pick an animated gif, you write on the inside the card, and you write a sign off on the back.
How I built it
My first iteration was building with vanilla js sprinkled with Material web components.
Challenges I ran into
I wanted to use new web apis like the Share API and I did, but it does not work on desktop. I feel back to clipboard for desktop.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Generating short urls on the fly. Implementing card sharing without a centralized database. Its entirely peer to peer.
What I learned
PWA features are robust.
What's next for Craft Cards
I rebuild in React with the ability to store and revisit cards you've sent and received as well as adding photo and video upload.
