Inspiration
Cracked Devs X was inspired by the need for a simpler job search experience. We identified a gap in the existing crackeddevs API—no search feature and no way to sort jobs by the number of applicants. This fueled our mission to empower users with these essential functionalities.
What it does
Cracked Devs X elevates crackeddevs API by adding a user-friendly search feature. Now users can search by job title, company, or technologies. We also introduced the ability to sort jobs by date, views, applications, or salary range. The frontend seamlessly integrates these enhancements, making job hunting more intuitive and efficient.
How we built it
The project began with a comprehensive exploration of the crackeddevs API. We iteratively modified the API to incorporate advanced search and sorting features. One significant challenge we faced was efficiently implementing the search functionality to navigate PostgreSQL rows. The frontend development focused on creating an uncomplicated and clean interface, ensuring a seamless user experience.
The technologies used where typescript, svelte, node w/ expressjs
Challenges we ran into
A significant challenge we encountered was determining an efficient way to implement the search functionality, ensuring fast search speeds through PostgreSQL rows. Additionally, writing a cron job for frequent updates posed its own set of challenges. We learned valuable lessons from overcoming these hurdles, enhancing our skills in optimizing search functionalities and maintaining data currency.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have transformed the crackeddevs API, providing users with a more personalized and efficient job search experience. The seamless integration of the frontend and backend ensures a cohesive and user-friendly platform.
What we learned
Our journey taught us how to efficiently search rows in PostgreSQL, build robust SQL queries, and write effective cron jobs. Lessons in user-centric design, efficient algorithms, and maintaining data currency deepened our understanding of backend optimization.
What's next for CrackedDevsX
Looking ahead, our goal for Cracked Devs X is to add an email job alert feature. This will further enhance the user experience, providing timely updates on relevant job opportunities. Another feature will focus on indexing existing and incoming jobs for faster search speeds. This enhancement aims to further optimize the user experience by reducing search response times. We also plan to share insights gained from overcoming challenges in implementing cron jobs, contributing to the project's overall robustness.
