Inspiration
Many productivity apps rely on pressure and punishment, which often leads to stress and burnout. We wanted to build a focus tool that feels calm, supportive, and motivating — even when progress is small. That inspired CozyFocus, a cozy focus app built around positive reinforcement instead of guilt.
What it does
CozyFocus helps users focus in a relaxed, guilt-free way. Users start a focus timer and earn coins for completing sessions. Coins can be used to buy cozy room items like plants, lamps, and rugs. As users focus more, their virtual room grows, visually reflecting their effort and progress.
How we built it
- React for the app’s UI and logic
- Tailwind CSS for fast, cozy styling
- Supabase for authentication and saving user progress
- Vercel for deployment
- GitHub for team collaboration
Challenges we ran into
Managing app state between focus sessions, rewards, and room updates was challenging. We also had to balance building features quickly while keeping the UI calm and intentional.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a complete focus-and-reward loop with visual progress in a short time. We’re especially proud of designing an experience that encourages focus without pressure or shame.
What we learned
We learned how important intentional design and user experience are, especially for productivity tools. We also gained experience integrating authentication, cloud storage, and deployment under time constraints
What's next for CozyFocus
In the future, we’d like to expand CozyFocus with additional features such as:
- AI study coach
- Productivity analytics
- Shared rooms/friends
