Inspiration
Our inspiration behind this app is to provide a community-friendly covid tracking help that helps users stay safe from areas affected.
What it does
Our app uses data such as user's personal information and location provided by the users with their consent to help them avoid covid affected areas by providing them with an opportunity to talk to other users with their personal information hidden to share their experiences, through using the map feature that indicates affected areas based on colour code, and through a gaming feature that provides them rewards if they stay at home and win rewards.
How we built it
We built the app using react-native so that the app is compatible with ios and android.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into are as follows: we had to research a lot about implementing features that have not been implemented in other covid tracking apps, for having some of our team become familiar with a new programming language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to build a basic version of our app in two days and to have analyzed the pros and cons of our app and trying to increase the pros compared to a lot of other apps.
What we learned
We have learnt the importance of using the user's data with consent, about earning the user's trust and making a covid tracking app that is user-friendly through a social media feature and games feature helps make a boring and a scary app more interesting.
What's next for Covsafe
Our near-future goal is to fully implement all the feature of the app in 3 months and released to all the citizens of Ontario and Quebec
