We wanted to create a website to allow users to stay up to date in regards to COVID-19 and to participate in our random acts of toilet paper.

What it does

Covinder (COVID-19 + Finder) is an application that at a glance provides information about the US overall to state and also to county. The map allows the user to interact and get specific information down to a county level about COVID-19. The menu displays information pertaining to the state selected in the dropdown and also provides resources pertaining to each state. There are also links to articles and links to organizations such as the WHO, CDC and NYT for more information.

How we built it

We built the application using the MERN stack and using semantic ui.

Challenges we ran into

A big challenge we ran into was attemping to geo-fence using google maps. Given the time constraints and that implementing google maps itself was a first time experience for our group, we ran into some trouble.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a group we are proud to have created a MERN stack application within the allotted time and implementing the features of the website.

What we learned

We learned that it is important to actively communicate and focus on the features that will allow us to create a MVP.

What's next for Covinder

As for what's next, we plan to go back and tackle geo-fencing so that our idea can come to fruition. We would like to allow users to request, give and communicate with other users.
