The desire to create a project that is relevant to today's climate. This application encapsulates our team's unique skillsets, our collaborative effort and our desire to learn from each other. This project also displays our generation's desire to create more accessible and user friendly ways to access important information.
What it does
CovidON displays daily COVID-19 statistics from the province of Ontario and its public health regions. The interface displays the data in readable and user friendly graphs and infographics.
How we built it
We used Xcode to develop and test our iOS application using Swift language and used Sketch to create our logo. Git was used to store and track incremental changes to the code.
Challenges we ran into
Aggregating the data from the public health regions and the whole province of Ontario required separate data structures.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Designing a streamline and professional logo and iOS app icon. The overall aesthetic of the app; providing light and dark mode as well as accessibility features.
What we learned
We learned to collaborate and contribute our individual skillsets to create a project that we are all proud of. We learned to use various resources from the internet to overcome challenges.
What's next for CovidON
In the later weeks, we hope to submit our app to the AppStore. After this, if it grows in popularity we will be expanding the application to support all provinces in Canada.
