Inspiration

Keeping in mind the current scenario of India, where the situation is getting worse day by day. In such a pandemic people are coming to social media platforms like Twitter asking for covid resources like Oxygen, Plasma, Remdesivir, and Beds. Also, there are many people on Twitter who are coming forward with verified leads. But the noise on Twitter is too much that there is a very big gap between these helpers and the needy people. This got us inspired to make something so that the users who need help can get it whenever they want.

What it does

CovidLifeline Bot will get triggered when someone asking for help will mention it. After getting triggered the bot will fetch some latest tweets which might be helpful for the user and reply to them to the user.

How we built it

For reading and writing tweets, we wrote a python script. For the classification model, we used google's Dialogflow For getting tweets data, we used Twitter API

Challenges we ran into

Due to strict guidelines of Twitter regarding automation, our developer access was limited multiple times which proved to be the prime challenge for us but we managed to tweak our bot to follow those guidelines

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully managed to create a model for classification with much higher accuracy and finally create a bot that can actually help users

What we learned

We learned about NLP, Dialogflow, and using Twitter API

What's next for CovidLifeline

After covering some edge cases and fine-tuning our bot, we are planning to make it live for the general public so they can get the most out of it
