Inspiration

During the pandemic time, an app related to Covid that would help the poeple is in great demand. Also during the second wave a lot of poeple found difficult to reserve hospital beds particularly oxygen beds . Also they were unaware of the realtime bed information. The hospital sending the excel sheet containing data of beds to the website and displaying the bed information is not realtime in nature .Also poeple found it very difficult. In order to overcome these issues , we developed this app. In this app the hospital can add/update/modify by themselves. Also the user can book a bed (Normal/Oxygen) bed and also they can book a bed in those registered hospitals if necessary. The user can also find the location of this app. This app will help the users to reserve a bed in the registered hospitals overcoming the hopelessness of the patient struggling to reserve a bed in hospitals. Also the user can view the realtime bed data, which is updated in realtime. So the user will be more aware of bed availability in hospitals. This idea inspired us to develop this CovidCare+ application

What it does

The app generally has two ends Hospital End and Patient End Hospital End

In the hospital end, The hospital can be registered after E-Mail authentication
they can create profile by entering hospitals and address as in google maps, selecting Country/State/City. *Then the hospital can enter bed information
Also they can modify the bed information anytime and the time and date the information modified will be stored in database

Patient End *In patient end, The user can register via E-Mail authentication and create profile by giving name, age, address, mobile number etc.
*Then E-Mail verification to verify the E-Mail *Then the user will be navigated to dashboard *There the User can find the hospital and select the country/state/city and the list of registered hospitals in that region will be displayed. *The user can select an hospital and the bed information, location will be displayed along with last modified time.

The user can also book a bed in that hospital *On successful booking, an confirmation PDF will be generated to user and also confirmation E-Mail will be sent to both Hospital and Uset. *The booking information can be viewed in Booking History.
The booking confirmation PDF will be stored in the download directory. After Booking please check the downloads directory *Since we are from Chennai, Tamil Nadu , we have registered hospitals in the following country. While searching hospital for testing purpose please search in the following manner so that the user can view the working of the app Select India in the country and Tamil Nadu in State and select Chennai in the City In that we have registered an hospital , which ease the judges to test the app

How we built it

We built this app in android studio. The programming language used is Java for backend and XML for frontend. The database user here is Firebase. The duration we took to complete this project is 1month, a team of 3 members built this project .

Challenges we ran into

We had a challenge of what if the user booked the beds of hospital as a playful activity. We thought a lot of algorithm regarding this challenge and finally we arrived to the solution by the user on a successful booking the booking button will be disabled for three days and it will be automatically-enabled after three days, so that it eliminating the possibility of misusing the app. After three days of booking ,the booking button will be enabled automatically for that user account and he can book a bed. If user want to book more than one bed ,the user can register his other account and book a bed. By this technique , a lot of user get an opportunity to book a bed and eliminating the misuse of the app to the most. Also the hospital has to accept the terms and condition before registering .

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to create this app and to participate in this competition. We are glad that there is no hospital bed booking app and realtime bed information displaying interface in our region. This app is first of its kind. This app is completely built with humanity and concerning the emergency situation of patients. We are proud for the hardwork and effort we made to build this app. And on the top of everything we are extremely proud to explain our concept to our respected judges and the respected person reading this. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity. This app can be used anywhere around the globe.

What we learned

We learnt the importance of teamwork and the methods to built an app for the social wellness. We learnt lot of patience and built every part of the app with extreme dedication. We learnt Java, XML and the firebase our database very well and in a practical approach during the progress

What's next for CovidCare+

The app has been built completely. We are working hard to receive some recognition for this app so that we will proceed with spirit for our next project. The app if it is launched to the society , the app is planned to reach the hospitals first, so that as many hospitals can be registered around the globe / any region. Once sufficient hospitals are registered in most of the regions , the app will be open to patient end to book beds, hospital bed information and location of hospitals.
