Inspiration

Our project was inspired by current world events. Everyone has been affected by the pandemic. We wanted to create something that people would desperately need. Our application is relevant and helpful to everyone.

What it does

Our project helps people visualize how COVID-19 is spreading throughout the world. We have a graph displaying the number of infected, recovered, and deaths. We also have a map displaying the number of COVID-19 cases in the United States over the last 2 weeks.

How we built it

We built our project using Azure's Map API and the Mathdroid Covid-19 API which gave us global COVID-19 data from The Center for Systems Science and Engineering. Languages we used include Javascript, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was creating our extrusion map since none of us were familiar with using Azure's Map API before. We were able to figure it out using code samples.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to get our map and graph working with accurate COVID-19 Data.

What we learned

We learned how to use Azure's Map API and the Mathdroid Covid-19 API, which none of us have ever used before. For some group members, this was their first experience using React, so they were able to work on expanding their skills in front-end web development.

What's next for COVIDATA

Currently, our Map only shows COVID-19 cases from the last 2 weeks in the United States. We want to be able to expand our Map's functionality to include Canada and the rest of the world.
