Monitor Debunked Claims about COVID-19 on Social Media

The Problem

Fake News about COVID-19 is Proliferating on Social Media. While thousands of claims were already debunked by professional fact-checkers..they keep re-appearing in different phrasing (mutations) on social media.

The Solution

CoviDashboard works in 3 stpes:

  1. Monitor Trending Posts on Social Media
  2. Identify debunked claims on COVID-19: a. Given a post to check b. Search for related claims that were already debunked using the ClaimReview schema c. Use Natural Language Processing to decide if it’s a duplicate
  3. Present suspect items in real time (Then ask Social Media to Remove False Posts)

The Expected Impact

This will help to:

  1. Speed up the reaction time, before posts go viral
  2. Map out the false narratives
  3. Reduce the exposure to COVID-19 Fake News

  2. Support More Languages (currently English. All EU languages will be added)
