Inspiration
The world needs to come together and be a unit, face and solve problems together.
What it does
One might say we are all in the same boat, we are travelling down the same river and rowing with the same ores. I say, we are by no means in the same boat, but we are in it together.
For some it’s been horrific, lonely, an ordeal, full of sadness, and for others it’s been a time for reflection, time to get to know ourselves and the people around us.
For the world as a whole it’s been a time of uncertainty and sacrifice where, unfortunately, the number of deaths have become the only gauge to depict how close we are to ‘normal’ life as we once knew it.
Our entire existence has altered and shifted to a new acceptable ‘norm’.
With this in mind I have created this community for us all to come together and share our stories of grief, of success, of struggle, and of humility.
This period will go down in history and with it I want Covid+Us to offer a shelter, housing the stories that have been lived, created and adapted during this time.
As the economy yo-yo’s, financial security has become something of the past for a large majority of people. Governments have provided support and changed many policies to help keep society agile and adaptive.
It’s our responsibility to voice our stories to future generations. To help allow them to appreciate, learn, and remember the struggles and successes of Covid-19 from the front line.
The stories shared through this platform will undoubtedly unravel unique scenarios and situations that people have had to cope with – I want us and future generations to remember and be inspired by those inspirational moments and people.
Let us come together and appreciate that although we are not all in the same boat we are part of the same era and situation.
With this, we can find comfort in knowing that we are not alone, our stories can be shared, saved and used to inspire generations to come through this platform. We can stand proud knowing we are navigating through the storm of Covid-19 with our heads high.
Albert Einstein once said that “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving’.
This quote encapsulates how we have all managed to embrace the situation whilst being able to quickly make changes, and adapt our very existence.
The future can never forget the lives that have been lost, the wounds people wear on their sleeves, and the worst of which are the invisible wounds which take the longest to heal. Let’s come together and share our stories as one world, one nation and one heart.
How I built it
I started the product myself, started to design, conceptualise, speak to people and do some interviews. Found the right balance. Then worked with a team of designer and developer to choose the right technology for the stage we were at, which fit into the budget too - as I am funding it myself.
Challenges I ran into
- Costs - Funding it myself meant I had to learn and do a lot myself to save on Dev and design time.
- Speaking to people and getting their thoughts
- Getting it ready on time with the allocated resource while, having a fully functioning and tested platform
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The platform and the feedback I have. Looks and works like a global level platform.
What I learned
Team work is very important, and to be open minded. Learn from everyone and take all feedback onboard.
