Inspiration

Needed a practical and helpful solution in disaster situation

What it does

It tries to help people who are seeking some sort of help, and let them see nearby volunteers. Anyone can register themselves as volunteer or help seeker. It also shows helpline numbers by country state and city

How I built it

It's already live and built it using Python/ Django with Google Maps and PostgreSQL- PostGIS for figuring our people within certain radius

Challenges I ran into

Ideation was biggest challenge, also the system has to be open for all users and they can see most of the info, but to see some they need to register and provide some details

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

It's was built in record 1 and half day, very fast and went live. It has HTTPS ( only then the google maps work )

What I learned

I have learnt to think hard what to built which can actually be useful then just a showcase of technical skills.

What's next for Covid19 Helpline Info

We want to add more data, automatically scan volunteers for the kind of help you need. For example if you need a specific medicine then all medical volunteers would get notification and they can then co-ordinate with help seeker as to how to provide help.
