Inspiration
Well, the ongoing pandemic.
What it does
This allows you to see a country-by-country breakdown of the statistics for the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, presented in a non-cluttered, easy to digest manner. You can also sign in via BlockStack to keep track of the countries you care most about.
How I built it
Basic framework is django, however, this was a poor choice, since BlockStack is written in Node.js/react.
Challenges I ran into
Styling with bootstrap, attempting to throw together pieces of javascript into python so that the BlockStack integration would work. There is a blockstack authentication for Django app, but it is extremely outdated and doesn't work anymore, and that would've made this much easier. Instead, I had to code a lot of javascript just so that it would work with Django. Setting up on Google Cloud. Other VPS platforms such as DigitalOcean and Vultr are much easier.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
As long as I put enough dedication and time to it, I can do it :D This is the first proper hackathon project I'm actually happy about.
Note that the domain might not work. The blockstack integration may not work online due to SSL issues, but it does work on localhost.
