Inspiration

One of our younger sisters does not understand the gravity of COVID-19. She always complains about wearing a mask and does not understand why she has to. Hopefully, a simulator/game can show kids why each and every one of the decisions they make is important to keep them and their families safe. We decided to do a choose-your-own-adventure game as a fun way of doing just that.

What it does

Our website gives users realistic scenarios and allows the user to make choices that would impact their health and the health of others. In the end, based on their decisions, they either test positive or negative for COVID. If they test positive, then they are given how many other people they infected.

How we built it

We used glitch as the environment to run our files. We used JavaScript to determine if the user is positive or negative for COVID, HTML for functionality, and CSS for design. We designed and created all the images on our website ourselves.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time creating a website. We ran into challenges such as adding event listeners for buttons, adding images, and choosing a platform where we could all work on.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to finish and make this website functional. We are happy with how the website turned out.

What we learned

We learned to use javaScript within our HTML code to add functionality.

What's next for COVID Simulator

Expanding the game to have more paths to take as well as more character choices.
