Inspiration

With how much misinformation is spreading around coronavirus I wanted to create an app that shows reliable sources about it.

What it does

The app answers the questions about what is a coronavirus, how can it be prevented, are masks necessary? Also, it has a built-in data tracker about coronavirus cases. The app shows the information from credible and reliable sources always thus it requires you to have an internet connection when using the app.

How I built it

I built it inside android studio using java and xml

Challenges

I was contemplating how complex the app should be but when I thought about the audience they could be anywhere from a child to an old age person hence I ended up creating a very simple UI. Intuitively, one would know how to use the app. I had to decide whether I should make an internet connection a requirement or not. I could store the information whenever the user had an internet connection and display it next time if the user doesn't have an internet connection but I went against the decision primarily because the information regarding Covid-19 is critical and always needs to be current.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of creating this app in a day that includes coming with the idea of the app.

What I learned

I learned how to put together an impromptu idea together in a short time. This is my first hackathon and thus this is my first time doing anything like this.

What's next for Covid information

Since the application pulls the resource from the internet, the user can be sure that they are always getting the latest information possible.
