Inspiration

This critical time of covid-19 inspired us to make this discord bot. We have seen people dying in terrible state due to lack of proper resources (oxygen concentrators, beds, ICU availability)

What it does

The Problem: Surge in the count of deaths due to unavailability of oxygen cylinders/hospital beds/other important items (mostly in India). There have been many attempts by lots of people to tackle this by making apps/sites, but most of them contain scattered stale data).

Solution: A community driven database storing the latest and accurate contact details/address of the concerned items city-wise and state-wise. We make this data publicly available and any site/app can use it.

How: A discord bot that allows users to enter details of the resources they are aware of, and also provides a list of those sorted in a relevant order, which is calculated by the frequency of times that data has been entered by people. We also scarp twitter posts sharing these data and try to filter the major details out of them.

Current solution: WhatsApp status, contact sharing, social media (mainly through images, many that are useless, maybe because they are fake)

How we built it

We used discord.js to set up the client, nodeJS as our server, and mongodb as our database.

Challenges we ran into

The major challenge we faced was Accumulating reliable data and putting it in our project. how to use it to access information in JSON format.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A community driven database storing the latest and accurate contact details/address of the concerned items city-wise. which can be used via our bot.

What we learned

We learned various tech stacks like Javascript , Mongodb, etc and especially how to use and access APIs and use on our project.

What's next for Covid-Discord-Bot

Find more reliable sources, validate users who help update the database and filter out the most relevant data for the tweets.
