Inspiration
We took the inspiration that COVID is affecting everyone and just wanted to make a website for resources.
What it does
It shows resources that everyone uses during quarantine. It features a home page filled with info about COVID-19, a blog post, and an incomplete screener check for COVID. Lastly, we added a page that shows the team that made it.
How we built it
We used React to set up the skeleton of the website. We then continued with JSX and CSS to create the website.
Challenges we ran into
Coming up with an idea was hard to do. On top of that, 3/4's of our team had close to no programming experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite having no experience in coding in Javascript and CSS, we managed to create and design a website we are proud of. Only one of us were CS majors and we sat here for 16 hours doing the project.
What we learned
We basically learned how to code in JS and CSS alongside using React. Definitely a big learning curve.
What's next for COVID Decoded
We were thinking of adding a Javascript made game utilizing Phaser. It would showcase Dr. Fauci shooting hand sanitizer at COVID particles in a 8-bit mario type game. We can also flesh out the self-screener. Fully clean up design, we get the general idea of how to do it. We are just completely gassed and have midterms to study for.
