From the creators of Covid Cloud, Bianca and Daniella, we would like to tell you our story. Our inspiration sparked when we saw pictures of doctors with scars on their face from wearing masks. We know how much work they do for us, and they don’t deserve it. So, we made Covid Cloud. Covid Cloud is a mask made of quilt-cotton, so it is very soft. This makes it more effective than traditional masks. It is very breathable, and can block the virus. The fastening band is made out of memory foam for extra comfort. The challenge we ran into was time management. We have many other activities, and never got time to build a prototype. We also have schoolwork, as we are in Grade 7. Nevertheless, we are excited to present Covid Cloud! Our design process started when we brainstormed problems. We found three major problems, education, finance and lastly, doctors. Then we found more in depth problems, like special needs students, people who lost their jobs, and equipment can harm doctors. Next, we thought of solutions, even crazy ones, because those could spark ideas. After coming up with many solutions, we took the most realistic ones. We thought 4 of them could be a reality, so we ranked them to see which one was the best. In the end, Covid Cloud was the winner. We got the inspiration for our design process from our training in First Lego League. We are proud that we came up with an idea with so little time. We learned that when you put your mind towards something, you can achieve it. Also, you must have time-management and be organized. The final thing we learned was about different materials that are good and for your face, yet can prevent the virus. Our next steps will be to make a prototype, test and refine. After lots of hard work, this could be a reality!
