Due to the current Covid-19 crisis in India, we took it upon ourselves to help build a app that can help people during these tough times.
What it does
It provides a place where people can see the nearest vaccination centers to them (based off of zip code), as well as information about the vaccine available in each, and how to reach there safely. There is also tabs where one can "give" or "receive" materials. People who want to donate the cause and provide materials for people in need can do so upon completing the form provided in the app. On the other hand, people who want to receive materials can do so, through a separate form.
How I built it
We built it using React Native, with the back-end being composed of node.js.
Challenges I ran into
It was difficult to implement the data from the api within the "find resources" page. It also was hard to route between different pages within the app.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of completing the "give resources" form, as well as accessing data from the API to provide information on a variety of Covid-19 vaccination centers.
What I learned
We learnt how to access APIs, how to allow Text Input in React Native, and how to access their library of components to build our own apps.
What's next for Covid Aggregator
For the Covid Aggregator, we are planning on first finishing the "give" and "receive" resources page, making it more user-friendly and also adding more options on resources they can receive. We also want to link the "give resources" page to actual NGOs in the area, so users are reassured that their donations will go into good hands. Overall, we want to prefect the design of the app, creating a optional login system, and implement a map where people can see where exactly each vaccination center is.
