Inspiration
The recent Covid-19 outbreak across the globe is a pandemic and there has been a lot of misinformation. Too many information sources. People need all the verified information they can get across one source available to them and they do not have to go fishing for more info. I started building this bot as a need to provide information when I heard all the fake news surrounding the scourge. All information that the Bot communicates is pulled off of the WHO. I hope the Bot makes a difference in arming people with knowledge on the Covid-19 pandemic. The Wiki Bot is hoped will become the point of information for the Corona Viruses on Messenger.
What it does
The Bot is an Information Wiki for Covid-19. It is presents structured knowledge in the form of:
- Text
- Image
- Video.
- A URL to the WHO website for news and real time updates.
How I built it
I build it using Facebook Messenger.
Challenges I ran into
This is my first time building out a full Messenger Bot and I did it in 4 days. The main challenges was understanding the documentation as it is totally different from the Sample Code provided in the example projects. Fortunately, I write JavaScript and I was able to figure our things on my own. At this time of Submission, I'm yet to implement the "sender_action": "typing_on" feature.

Extensive use of documentation and curl requests to activate webhooks and payloads.
What's next for Covid-19 WikiBot
This is still a Work In Progress. It is in Dev Mode and will be made available for public use in due time. All features are not yet completed. It is a working MVP. Making it available in other languages beginning with French, Italian and Spanish. Turning the Bot to an information Wiki for learning about all the Corona Viruses.
