COVID Watch

Based on the data of COVID-19 (corona virus), we are predicting how fatal would the impact be on a certain country. Also, user can learn about latest news, and get notified if there is any new cases.

Inspiration

Three of our team members are from countries bordering China, which are Mongolia and Nepal. Since, coronavirus outbreak, our families have been affected significantly, as Mongolia and Nepal border China, because there is a lack of resources regarding the risk of coronavirus transmission in the developing countries surrounding China. Mongolian government stopped public transportation, universities and schools closed until June, and events have been cancelled as well, even though there is no confirmed case there. The reason is because of the high threat level coronavirus is imposing on the smaller nations. Unfortunately, there is a lack of apps or websites where we can get data on the risk rate of developing countries by coronavirus. Through our app, we want to spread more awareness on how dangerous the impact could be on some developing countries, to instigate people to be responsible for themselves.

What it does

COVID19 Watch visualizes the countries with the greatest exposure to a China slowdown directly or indirectly, and how severely they will be affected by the virus spread. Countries will be affected immediately through health impacts, including deaths and weaker health, but some will recover. The data visualized on “Risk Factor” is calculated and derived from information included on the “About” page. Also, our website visualizes the current confirmed cases, death cases, and recovered cases around the globe. Lastly, users can input their location, and radius to see if there are any cases within the given area.
