Inspiration
The pandemic has spread as much as it has because people did not take it as seriously as they should have. Even right now, most people do not know the symptoms, and what they need to do, if it is likely they have been infected. This project aims to remove ignorance, a pillar supporting the spread of the virus.
What it does
Team Lacasa's solution is an android application that asks a couple of yes/no questions about the symptoms and other factors that indicate a likelihood of infection. A score is attached to each question, and next steps to follow are given depending on the total score at the end of the test.
How I built it
It was built in the Android Studio IDE using Java.
Challenges I ran into
A major challenge was power supply, because of it, our team could only work for 2 hours a day.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Despite the limited time we had to work on it, we managed to finish the project.
What I learned
Apart from knowing more about the symptoms of the virus, no one on the team had previous experience with android development, we can say we do now.
What's next for COVID-19 Test
Team Lacasa chose the Android platform because a majority of the world's population is privy to it, and more people can be enlightened this way. With the help of medical professionals and the publicity from winning ieeesightegypt, more content can be added and more people reached.
