A conversation with a neuroscience post-doc on what can be done while testing capacity will be limited for a while for the majority of the World. We are building a symptom tracker app for Covid-19. Not all the cases are symptomatic but still it's better than not tracking anything.
What it does
The app allows users to report their symptoms, tracks their locations, as well as see what's the density of symptoms around them in different places like grocery stores, gas stations, etc.
How I built it
Our tech stack consists of ReactNative, Node.js, and Mongodb
Challenges I ran into
Working with a team with members from different time zones. We have members working in Ethiopia, Turkey, and the US.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are done with the designs and basic setups. They are finished in a very short amount of time.
What I learned
Once we get together, a lot can be done, quickly.
What's next for Covid-19 Symptom Tracker
Before having a lot of people on the app, symptom tracking feature wouldn't be useful. Therefore, we'd like to add information and insights on public data features, which will inform people differently by their age group. The message that should reach to a teenager is different than a parent, or a grandparent.
