Our project was inspired by an everyday pandemic situation- deciding whether to go out or stay inside in different situations. It's difficult to factor in everything and do your research every time you need or want to go outside, and as a result lots of people give up on decision making, either staying in all the time or going out a lot.
We worked to lessen the problem of decision making in the pandemic. With all the information out on the internet, making informed decisions has become overwhelming, so helping people find a simple way to make more informed decisions is important.
Our project is meant to solve the problem by helping the user to evaluate their risk to make a good decision. Once the person enters all the factors, our website outputs a risk score and tells the person how they could further minimize their risk.
We used python, specifically the datasci and matplotlib packages, for the back end, and Django for the front end.
We had never created a UI before, so setting one up was difficult, and we didn't end up making a fully functional one in time unfortunately.
