Process flow: 1) User logs onto AWS host page 2) AWS page authenticates against auth service to prove providers identity. 3) User selects the form they want to fill out 4) User fills out the form and clicks on submit 5) Message is sent to Mirth Connect Integration engine. (Scales out using AKS) 6) Message gets transformed to FHIR, and sent to specified FHIR server.
For our demo: we used a public fhir server that we were able to spin up quickly with all of the endpoints ready to hit. We can easily make more forms that can be spun up and sent to whichever health org we need to.
Our Aim: Shorten wasted time. If it takes 20 to 30 minutes to fill this out manually, and we can cut this down to 50 percent, thats 10-15 minutes saved for each form. If an office has 100 people waiting, that's over 24 hours saved plus some change. This solves the immediate problem of sending to the agency needed to send to. As engineers we also had to ask how to we help out if this happens again tomorrow or in a few months, what if there's another pandemic? How about other countries that don't have as many developers to tackle this issue? This shortens time and helps with healthcare provider burnout.
