Inspiration

As the global pandemic circles the world, people are at unease at this time of uncertainty. Finding the right information on how to prevent and or treat this deadly pandemic is in dire need. The inspiration for this originally came from the CDC chatbot; unfortunately, it was catered to the audience in the United States. Our chatbot has disseminated from various health organizations from the world and attributed all best practices all in one place in various languages.

What it does

Our COVID-19 Q&A Chatbot is a selection of factual information from various health organizations. To educate and inform the user of the best practices in their local language.

How we built it

Chatbook.ai is a scenario-driven chatbot on Facebook Messenger. Chatbook.ai allows for designing scenario workflows based on action/response from the user on Facebook Messenger. The Chatbook.ai scenario builder allows for ease of authoring content without the need for understanding complex programming languages.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges were identifying factual sources of information and being able to curate and convey the best practices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of the accomplishments is the ability to support various languages from one chatbot, as the chatbot resides in Facebook Messenger (Chatbook.ai is an official Facebook Partner). It allows for the ease of quickly authoring a scenario-driven chatbot experience without any knowledge of programming.

What we learned

We live in interesting challenging times, various countries have different response scenarios and ways to handle the pandemic. We found humans come together in the time of need, giving hope for humanity as a whole, as we are all in this together.

What's next for COVID-19 Q&A Chatbot

We will be extending on a daily basis and updating the COVID-19 Chatbot. So please stay tuned for regular updates as we would like to get the information out to the masses.
