Inspiration
I was inspired to create this project due to the rise in awareness of mental health. Every day we get involved in many situations, and some of those situations may or may not be the best experiences. I created this in order for people to feel like they have a place that is convenient for them to go to to write about any situations they may encounter, free of expectations from themselves or others.
What it does
The website has buttons that include creating a journal entry and seeing it on their local computer.
How we built it
I built this website using Visual Studio Code and used the programming languages HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to code and design it.
Challenges we ran into
There were many challenges that I ran into which included a lot of debugging of my code. There were some features that I would have liked to include, such as a table to see the entries on a table format or being able to have a feature that if a person felt really sad for x or more days, they would be offered resources for them to seek further help.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I was bale to learn the basics of HTML, JavaScript and CSS all during this 12-hour hackathon and am very proud that I was bale to create this website.
What we learned
I learned a lot about how to structure and design a website as well how to store data locally on a device.
What's next for COVID-19 Mental Health Awareness - Mood Journal
I hope to add the feature of being able to link resources for people to seek help if negative feelings persist for a specified number of days or longer as well as being able to see all the entries in table format. I may convert this to an iOS app in the future as well.
