Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project is the Covid-19 pandemic, and helping ensure people that their vaccine side effects are okay and nothing to panic about. Additionally we wanted to make it easier for health care officials to receive and store data about Covid-19 symptoms, and all of the side effects from each vaccine.
What it does
Through the use of the app, people can easily input what symptoms they have on a day to day basis, allowing health and science professionals to access this data for research purposes. The app provides a downloaded text file of the reported information for easy access.
How we built it
The GUI for the project was done in Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
Through Android Studio, we were unable to connect the pages together through the use of buttons. We were also unable to create the database, as we had issues with importing the required parent class into Android Studio.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to help healthcare officials with an app pitch that can come to life with more time. As first time hackers, this was a big accomplishment for us to come up with a solid idea and be able to layout and design the entire app and how the backend would work.
What we learned
We learned about Android Studio and how Androids apps can be made. We also learned about relational databases, and how they are accessed using SQL.
What's next for Covid-19 Manager
Ideally the next step is connecting the front end pages of the app together, and writing the code for the database, allowing the app to feel complete. Right now the app is in the design phase, and needs more time to be implemented.
